The 2007 Season of the Bach Festival of Central Florida is filled with a
variety of events featuring national and local artists and focusing on the
music of J.S. Bach and his Baroque Era contemporaries.

Encounters for Children

are three delightful musical experiences for children introducing J.S. Bach through storytelling, music demonstrations and hands on experience with early music instruments.

The Festival Weekend

will open with nationally recognized countertenor Daniel Bubeck in recital followed by an evening of concerti for one, two, three, and four
pianos, and closing with Handel’s oratorio “Saul” with orchestra, chorus and
professional soloists.

FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERT
March 16, 2007 7:30 PM
Polk Museum of Art Auditorium, Lakeland, Fl.

The 2007 Bach Festival of Central Florida will open with an intimate recital by guest artist Daniel Bubeck, countertenor, accompanied by pianist Paul Floyd. This will be the first appearance by a countertenor in the 32-year history of the Bach Festival. This event will include a champagne reception.

Daniel Bubeck has received great praise as a countertenor throughout the country, making his professional operatic debut to critical acclaim singing the role of the First Countertenor in the world premiere of John Adams’ Opera/Oratorio, El Niño, at the Théâtre Musical de Paris-Châtelet. Since then he has performed with some of the world’s most prestigious ensembles including the BBC Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Radio Filharmonisch Holland, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester-Berlin and Tokyo Symphony.

Paul Floyd is active throughout the southwest as an accompanist, vocal coach,
chamber player and recitalist. He is currently in his sixth year as an Assistant
Conductor for Los Angeles Opera, and for the past seven summers has served
in a similar capacity at the Santa Fe Opera. His education includes the Doctor of
Musical Arts degree in piano from the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well
as degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern
California. When not seated at the piano, he can be found riding the waves at
